Plants at Herbst
A small collection of garden perennials and annuals is currently being propagated and trialled at Herbst Garden.
The first plants are expected to become available in limited quantities in 2027.
Until then, this page will follow what is being grown, how the plants are being tested and what may form part of the first release.
A small, considered collection
Herbst will not begin as a large general nursery. The initial collection will focus on plants that contribute strongly to mixed borders and have earned their place through observation or use in the garden.
This may include flowering perennials, selected annuals and other plants suited to layered, seasonal planting.
Quantities will be limited, and the collection will change as plants are tested, propagated and assessed.

Why small grade?
Small-grade plants are easier to transport, require less growing space and allow a wider selection to be produced in limited quantities. They are intended for gardeners who are comfortable planting smaller specimens and allowing them time to establish.
The exact pot size and supplied grade will be stated clearly for every plant before sale. Product photographs will also show the approximate size customers can expect to receive.
